At Stowell, P.C., we provide advice and representation for all your family law matters. In addition, we also offer assistance in a variety of other legal issues.

  • Divorce- The law sees marriage as a legal relationship between two people. Many legal matters arise when a marriage is to be dissolved and you need help to find your way to an agreeable settlement. As your legal representative, we have the experience and creativity to understand the difficulties that arise and the flexibility to help you discover new ways to cope during this potentially stressful time.

  • Custody & Visitation/International and Interstate Custody Disputes- Divorce is traumatic for parents and children. When searching for the right visitation schedule or deciding where the children should live, each party should have an attorney who is knowledgeable of the state standards and sensitive to the concerns of both adults and children. We are one of a few law firms who have significant experience dealing with the special legal problems that arise when custody disputes cross interstate and international borders. In addition to handling the terms of custody or visitation, jurisdiction is a major issue.

  • Child Support- It is undisputed that divorce has emotional implications on the family. Financial implications can be almost as daunting. Because each state has a unique formula for determination of Child Support amounts, you need proactive representation to help you reach a fair settlement and efficiency to reduce legal costs.

  • Adoption- Adoptive parents accept all the challenges, rights, and responsibilities of parenthood. The adoption process can be a maze of legal twists and turns. We know what it takes to navigate the adoption process quickly and efficiently and can help you bring your new family together with minimum delay.

  • Guardianships- Sometimes our loved ones need help with their financial or personal matters. Whether it is due to age, incapacity, or some other circumstance, the courts can be asked to intervene to appoint a Guardian. The Guardian accepts responsibility for the financial and personal needs of the Ward. As a result, he or she must report regularly to the court on the status of the Ward's personal and financial status. We have experience with Colorado's guidelines for Guardianships and have helped establish and maintain Guardianships for the elderly and the very young.

  • Juvenile Matters- Each state has special guidelines for protecting its youth. As part of our family law practice, we have dealt with a variety of legal issues that are unique to children. The Juvenile System is a separate entity and requires creative and understanding legal talent that knows how the system works.

  • Criminal Defense- Our firm has experience defending the rights of people arrested and accused of criminal offenses. We handle all types of criminal cases, including minor infractions and misdemeanors and the most serious felony indictments, such as, drunk driving, drug possession, narcotics sales, theft and grand larceny, white-collar fraud, embezzlement, sex offenses, arson, and conspiracy.

  • Real Estate- Our firm represents both commercial clients and individuals in transactions and litigation that deal with real property land and the structures attached to it including purchase and sale, construction, mortgages and foreclosures, leases, zoning, quiet title actions, closings, and management.

  • Litigation & Appeals- Our firm represents and advises clients who are or might become involved in a lawsuit or appeal as a result of a dispute, including prevention and settlement, in such areas as family law, real estate matters, contract disputes, and other practice areas.
