Alisha earned her Juris Doctorate at the University of Colorado Law School in 2009 and was admitted to practice in Colorado in October the same year. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication from Regis University in Denver, Colorado, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Prior to pursuing a career in law, Alisha worked at Janus Capital Group for seven years, ending her finance career as a research associate in the portfolio management group. Alisha served in the Army for four years.
As a law student, Alisha interned at the Boulder District Attorneys office, prosecuting DUI and Minor in Possession cases. Alisha participated on the CU trial team and moot court, and she coached other mock trial teams, leading one team to first place in an annual competition between rival law schools CU and DU.
During law school, Alisha practiced as a student attorney in the clinical program - a nonprofit legal services program that assists indigent clients with their legal needs. As a student attorney, Alisha helped clients obtain divorces and custody determinations, and appealed social security disability benefits denials.
